Citizen journalist

by Romain

As we explained Arnaud Meunier on his blog (an appreciable quality), the term citizen journalists has occurred recently in the landscape 2.0.

Means by that name, Internet sites that provide information their eyes and their information in the form of articles, videos and sounds. Given the need to differentiate the work of professional journalists (those who have undergone training, which respect the rules of ethics, which have a card, etc.) from the Internet without making jealousies, some heads thinkers have imagined the term "citizen journalist". This means that this designation does absolutely nothing to say and ask questions of substance on our perception the press. [...] I am also aware that the quality of the media is not always lived up to what one would expect in terms of information, but in any case the difference is real: a journalist seeking information, check its sources, compares to provide this information as neutral as possible.

I concede that the term citizen journalists is not a better choice; however I deepen the debate to separate the amateur and professional journalists. Where is press? What happened to the journalist profressionnel? How is it different from an amateur?

The work of journalist consciste sources to gather, sort, deepen, and synthesize them into shape. Beyond experience, the feather and ethics, so there is no difference between pro and amateur journalist. Arnaud Meunier emphasizes the need to differentiate absolutely pro amateur for reasons that are no longer relevant to my taste. At the end of the 20th century McCombs and Shaw presented on the theory of Agenda Setting insisting on the ability of media to focus public attention on certain events, some issues, but yet not dictate his opinion. The evolution of media has led to the following: the media are themselves dependent on other social actors. The sources enjoy privileged access to journalists pro. They exert a certain influence on journalists. What consitue I think the real difference between pro and amateur journalists. An amateur journalist (blogger) will not have any constraints (organizational and technical) to which journalists are subjected. I speak only for the selection of information, it might be interesting to discuss the legitimacy of fans to tackle a topic.

Presse influence

I support my view by a small current example. Thanks to a clever revelation about his private life, Mr Sarkozy managed to divert the attention of journalists on the visit of President Kadafi in France.

My observation is simple, I have the choice between two sources of information: a press (PQN etc.). And secondly press amateur (I reduce the Blogs). I prefer to give more importance to information provided by journalists in the amateur free choice of information.

T'on will attend a mutation / evolution the press with the birth of the concept of citizen journalism?

Beware, if you think a blogger can do the work of a professional journalist simply because he knows he write and ideas, the door is open to all excesses.
I am not saying that some do not blogeurs looks even sometimes relevant information, but it is not the same ethics.
If I take your example on Sarkozy, the vast majority of the media have dealt with this info, but it also brought the idea of media manipulation on the part of teams Sarkozy.
For me, you must know the difference between the expression (blog), communication and information. You just take for example a ticket for me. A journalist would have contacted for more information before writing his paper and most importantly, have interviewed other people to have a broader view on the matter.
At a conference, one point behind journalists blog explained he called all sources that supply it with sources.
I will finish with an example that concerned me directly. I released a day ticket on a site following a newsletter that I received. I did not ask more questions, I took the news as. A few days later I received an email from another company which gave an entirely different light on this site. I had actually resumed commercial speech without any confrontation sources.
Finally, when everyone can write and publish their information, you do not think we should train and pay people to help us to sort all of this information. Well, these professionals, they are called journalists.

Yes blogger can do the job of a journalist, as everywhere there are good and bad ... I think that the proportion of journalists who deepen sources is really minimal.

For me, I do not claim the status of journalist, for the simple reason that my blog constitut reflect personal reflections, is anything but a blog current.

Well, it depends, if you read 20mn etc, it is on, but am certain that the majority of journalists are not only the headlines.
