You have not finished hearing about it, the iPhone 2nd generation has just been released. It was during the last Keynote, Steve Jobs revealed, unsurprisingly, the new version of the iPhone. Here a small overview of interesting features in this new generation.
The first surprise is the price:
- $ 199 for the 8GB version (black)
- $ 299 for the 16GB version (black and white)
He waited, iPhone 3G includes a GPS with Google Map
Performance increase but no drop of autonomy as Steve presents a breathtaking battery.
Who says says 3G + broadband mobile, so pages load much faster (+3.6%).
On the design side, except the 2 colors available, no big change. The iPhone 2 has lost a few millimeters thick (same size of the iTouch?) And offers end finer (better back in the pocket).
Steve Jobs also introduced MobileMe, a new synchronization service offering amazing opportunities and some applications sympatiques. (see detailed content on Plugeek)
In summary no big surprise most rumors confirmed (still no videoconferencing via iChat) but a nice drop in price not negligible.
